What are wet powder products?
Let’s give a definition to this Wet powder product category.
The term was coined directly by Co.Pack to identify a category of products, which in recent times have innovated the cosmetics sector, giving light to a new concept of eye shadow and illuminating production.
With this innovative cosmetic product category we identify all dosable or injectable pasty cosmetic powders, through the use of a volatile binding agent, such as isododecane, which subsequently disappears following a “cooking” procedure of the finished product.
The category includes Baked eyeshadows, Front Injection, Back injection or any new concept product in which the powder is made fluid or pasty, mixing it with a chemical binder.
Production processes
Now let’s analyze the processes.
First of all, this type of product is first dosed on an aluminum, tinplate or terracotta pence, or injected into dedicated plastic bottoms.
These pence with the dosed product are then pressed, defining a precise shape, to fill the pence homogeneously or to give a characteristic rounded shape.
Thanks to the pressing process, a large part of the liquid part of the product is extracted, due to the absorption property of the compacting ribbon.
Finally, the product is cooked in an industrial oven, completing the drying phase of the wet powder.
So, once the volatile binder disappears, the product becomes usable for make-up.
