ROTOPACK WP 1500-2P – machine for pressed wet powder baked
ROTOPACK WP 1500-2P is a machine designed for packaging wet powder “baked”: it doses the product into terracotta pans, presses it to obtain the typical domed shape, and then ejects the finished piece, with a maximum output of about 1500 pcs/hour.
The operator manually loads the terracotta pans into the dedicated pockets of the rotary table. The machine produces 2 cakes per machine cycle and automates the critical process steps: dosing, pressing, ejection, and cleaning of the format holder mold.
Overview
ROTOPACK WP 1500-2P is engineered for a stable and repeatable cycle for wet powder “baked”, where liquid phase management and pressing directly affect the final appearance (dome and texture). The machine is organized into four workstations:
- Dosing station
- Pressing station
- Ejection station
- Cleaning station
Ideal for
- Production of wet powder cakes in terracotta pans with controlled pressing and domed shape
- Processes where it is important to control the liquid phase during pressing (“squeezing” effect)
- Workflows where the operator loads pans manually and the machine runs the complete cycle automatically
Key advantages – machine for pressed wet powder cakes
1) Complete in-machine cycle: dosing + pressing + ejection + cleaning
A single platform to manage all key steps of the wet powder cake process, reducing external handling and manual tasks beyond pan loading.
2) Wet powder dedicated dosing with DOSAPACK WP
Dosing is performed by the DOSAPACK WP unit installed on the station: hopper mixer (max 30 rpm) to keep the product moving, stepper-based volume adjustment, and a vertical slide to cut off the product from the nozzle.
3) Production continuity with the pressing cloth management
The pressing section is designed to minimize downtime: when the cloth on press 1 is finished, the machine activates press 2 with a new cloth ready, avoiding cycle interruption for cloth replacement.
Technical details
Dosing station
The wet powder dosing unit DOSAPACK WP is installed on the dosing station. It was developed using PACK ECO as a base, keeping the same dosing axis but with a dedicated configuration: vertical structure, hopper mixer to prevent separation between liquid and solid phases, trolley frame for handling, stepper motor for parameter-based volume adjustment, and a vertical slide (stroke 100 mm) to simulate the manual “cut-off” gesture at the nozzle.
DOSAPACK WP can also operate stand-alone: when disconnected from the main unit, it can be used manually depending on production needs.
Pressing station
The pressing station uses two pneumatic presses (maximum force on request). A pressure regulator limits the applied force, and a height/end-stroke adjustment system allows precise settings to control the final dome shape and the amount of liquid phase “squeezed out” during pressing.
Opposite the press cylinder, a pneumatic counter-cylinder with vacuum pump keeps the pan in position and helps prevent it from sticking to the cloth when the press rises after compression.
Each press includes a dedicated two-arm cloth unwinder. The two arms are driven by two opposed pneumatic slides, used to lay down and detach the cloth before and after pressing in an asynchronous way. This reduces product tearing and helps prevent texture defects caused by cloth handling. The unwinder includes two idler rollers (up to two cloth rolls). Cloth feed is driven by two opposed rubber rollers powered by a stepper motor (max speed 300 rpm).
Ejection station
The ejection station is designed to facilitate removal of the dosed and pressed cakes. It is duplicated to maintain production efficiency and uses a vertical pneumatic cylinder to lift the pans from the format holder. This station also includes a vacuum pump to stabilize the cakes during lifting.
Cleaning station
The cleaning station cleans the format holder mold at the end of the cycle. A pneumatic slide moves a scraper blade over the rotary table and transfers the collected material to an excess wet powder collection drawer, keeping the working area cleaner.

Technical FAQ
It doses wet powder into terracotta pans, presses the product to obtain the domed shape and ejects the finished piece. It also integrates a cleaning station for the format holder mold.
No. The operator manually loads the terracotta pans into the rotary table pockets; the rest of the cycle is managed automatically by the machine.
Each press includes a two-arm cloth unwinder with asynchronous laydown and release. When press 1 cloth ends, the machine can activate press 2 with a new cloth ready, reducing downtime.
